by JAY PARMLEY – Hey there, Tongass Dems!
As you might already know, I’ll be heading down to the Capital City on Thursday for an event at Kim Metcalfe’s house. I’ve been looking forward to this event for a while, as it’s always fun to see friendly Democrats—and it doesn’t hurt that Juneau is one of the most progressive areas of the state! I am proud of your hard work in electing candidates and building the Party in Southeast.
This trip to Juneau is the first in my statewide multi-city tour leading up to the October municipal elections. It’s incredibly important to me to reach out to as many Alaska Democrats as possible to catch up, let you know our ideas for the next several months, and hear your thoughts about that too.
First up: win as many municipal seats as possible in October. Next: win back seats in the State Senate, and expand our majority in the House. Finally: get rid of Don Young, once and for all. We have a lot of work to do, but I’m confident that we can make great strides over the next 18 months.
I also want to chat with you about how your financial investments continue to make our Party stronger. A lot of folks wonder what exactly we do at the State Party office, and the answer is “a lot.” From managing the data file that’s used to target voters in district across the state, to spearheading our communications strategy in spreading progressive messages on a local, state, and national level, to implementing a GOTV plan to get folks to the polls, as well as offering guidance to both first-time and seasoned candidates, we are busy working every day to improve the Party. I am happy to talk more about that on Thursday.
I hope to see you there!
