Lots going on this week: Tongass Democrats have our monthly business meeting this Thursday, and the CBJ Assembly calendar shows meetings of three of the big committees (Public Works and Facilities, Lands, and Finance), as well as a Committee of the Whole Worksession and Treadwell Arena Advisory Board meeting.

Also, for the first time, I’ve listed out your opportunities to testify before the Legislature.

Read on for meeting locations, dates and times.

Tongass Democrats
The regular monthly business meeting for Tongass Democrats is held the first Thursday of every month. So, that means we all get to see each other this Thursday, May 4, at 5:15 PM at the IBEW hall (813 W. 12th St., Juneau).

City & Borough of Juneau Assembly and Committee Meetings
This week, the official CBJ Assembly calendar features five meetings. Assembly Chambers are located at 155 S. Seward Street.

** Note that the agenda links may be directly connected to documents that you’ll be asked to save.

  • May 1 12:00 PM – Assembly Public Works and Facilities Committee, agenda, Chambers
  • May 1 5:00 PM – Assembly Lands and Resources Committee, agenda, Chambers
  • May 1 6:00 PM – Assembly Committee of the Whole Worksession, agenda, Chambers
  • May 3 5:30 PM – Assembly Finance Committee, no agenda posted, Chambers
  • May 4 5:30 PM – Treadwell Arena Advisory Board, agenda, City Hall Room 237

Agendas and additional information can be found at the CBJ Agendas and Minutes page.

AK Legislature Public Testimony Opportunities
First things first: here is the Legislature’s link for public testimony. Not able to be there in person? Contact your Legislative Information Office.

It looks like tomorrow is going to be a busy day, because the State is taking public testimony on the internet privacy bill that Dems introduced after our U.S. Rep. Don Young and his buddies sold out our browsing histories.

  • May 1, 2017, 3:15 pm – HB 230, TELECOMMUNICATIONS & INTERNET PRIVACY – H LABOR & COMMERCE
  • May 5, 2017, 1:00 pm – HB 238, REPEAL ROYALTY RELIEF: SHALE; COOK INLET – H RESOURCES

Please note that all of that the information in this post is believed to be accurate at the time of publication, but things might change. When they are available, I’ve included links to official websites so you can double check.

Have a wonderful week,
Mary
